We are interested in understanding how landscape heterogeneity and climate influence the distribution and breeding ecology of tropical montane birds in northern Peru. To answer these questions we use a variety of field techniques including mist netting, audio-visual surveys, nest searching, radio telemetry, arthropod sampling, and phenological monitoring. Our general questions are as follows:

1. How does agricultural land use govern the structure and composition of tropical montane bird communities in fragmented landscapes?

2. How does local microclimate regulate avian breeding ecology in tropical montane systems?
